At Manton Heights ABI Unit we offer a variety of activities.
Music and singing can be used as a therapeutic intervention for a wide range of health problems. They have many benefits as part of a rehabilitation programme for stroke recovery. Group singing helps reduce the symptoms of depression, it improves mental alertness and helps with self-esteem. Other physical benefits include an improvement in breathing and posture. Above all, group singing is great fun!
Our modern facility has a large activities room where residents can indulge their competitive spirit on our games console which is attached to a 50-inch television, or they can join in with non-electronic competitions such as board games and arts and crafts. The television screen will also be a focal point for our regular Movie Nights where residents can watch the latest Blu Ray releases with popcorn and nachos. In the same activities room, we also have a various selection of board games, arts and crafts, and books.
We also provide tablets, including those with a larger touchscreen which may be preferable for some users. The tablets have a number of apps within them which can also be utilised to provide support to the individual in achieving their therapeutic goals.
